Edward Shanly
Edward Shanly, a man of integrity and devotion, has built a remarkable career that reflects his passion for both people and his homeland. Educated by the Marist Brothers at St Paul’s College, Edward began his working life in the field of Surveying. However, his career took a significant turn when he entered the Travel Industry, where he trained with Lufthansa German Airlines in Germany and Air New Zealand. A standout moment came in 1995, when he was entrusted to manage the Queen’s first commercial flight from London to Auckland—an opportunity that underscored his expertise and reliability in the field.
Over the span of 36 years with Air New Zealand, Edward held various leadership roles, contributing to the company’s success while honing his skills in logistics and management. Eventually, he transitioned into Property Design & Development, continuing to thrive in roles that demanded both creativity and precision. His professional journey has been one of navigating the complexities of managing people and operations, all while maintaining a heart for service. Edward has traveled the globe, but his deepest affection remains for Aotearoa New Zealand.
Today, Edward leverages his extensive experience to proactively ensure that the next generation of New Zealanders inherits a nation that values life, family, opportunity, and excellence. Living in Kerikeri with his wife, Carolyn, Edward is a senior leader at Te Kupu Ministries and remains dedicated to making a lasting impact on the people and country he loves.
